Finally getting round to writing this, and I’m so excited to show you all of the beautiful spots I visited.
My trip started at Denpasar Airport. After taking about 20 minutes to find a taxi to take me to Kuta, I finally managed to get myself to the hostel where I would be spending the first couple of days. I met with my tour guide Alissa and the people that I would be living and travelling with for the next few weeks around Bali and the Gili Islands.
Day 1 in Bali consisted of lounging by the pool at our first hostel and getting to know everyone, you know, the standard questions, what’s your name, where are you from, how long you travelling for … etc. Over the course of the next few days we visited a temple in Uluwatu, that overlooked the ocean and had monkey’s running up and down the path, so hold onto your sunglasses if you go there, they are cheeky. We spent the afternoon at Padang Padang beach and then ate at Single Fin. I highly recommend this bar if you’re ever in Uluwatu, great food, cool music and a sick view of the ocean. When I was there, there were about 30 surfers all trying to catch a sunset wave and it was the coolest thing to see.
Before heading onto our next stop in Bali, we had a night out in Kuta and went to a nightclub called SkyGarden ‘the best nightclub in Bali’. This night consisted of dancing on tables, dance battles, and group bathroom selfies. Let me just quickly tell you about these bathrooms, they were insane, they were grand and extravagant, not what you would expect a Balinese nightclub toilet would look like. The walls were covered in floor-length mirrors, there were huge velvet sofas and crystal chandeliers everywhere. Insane, so now I feel that can justify why we took a club toilet selfie.
The following morning, while nursing our first hangover of the trip, we all hopped onto the bus and headed off to our next location.
