Bali Travel Diaries – Kuta to Canggu

Let’s pick up where we left off, ah yes, hungover on a bus. So, with all of us just wanting to arrive and jump into a cold pool, we headed to the coast and were about to experience the laid-back surfer destination of Canggu. To get here we drove through a few little rice paddies, and that’s when it starts to sink in that you’re in Bali. We arrived at our hotel, it was called Frii Bali Echo Beach Hotel and it did not disappoint. For all of my Instagram babes, you’re going to love this place. Their rooms were so beachy and arty, and some of the rooms opened up straight to the pool, so you could just walk out of your room straight into the cool, refreshing water. Something we definitely took advantage off.

The following morning we all had a surf lesson with some of the locals. This was so much fun, I love surfing, I’m not the best at it but I’m getting there. We spent our entire afternoon all trying to stand up and then watched some of the professionals show us how it was done!

Once we were all surfed out, we headed back to the hotel just in time to watch the sunset from Canggu Beach. The sands in Canggu are volcanic, so its all black, bizarre but really cool. This was also where all us girls decided to buy a few little jewellery pieces, some of which I am still wearing right now, almost 2 years later. On this beach, there is a man who walks up and down with a briefcase full of rings and earrings. I bought a wave ring that I wear on my middle finger, a thumb ring (much to my dad’s disgust, sorry not sorry) and 2 sets of mini hoop earrings. After we had watched the sunset, we all went and got some dinner. It was 2 for 1 on all cocktails, so we all took advantage of the free alcohol and had a blast.

We didn’t stay here long, but it was beautiful and so much fun. Our next stop would be in the north of Bali, a little unknown treasure called Lovina. Stay tuned.
